INCIDENTS ON HIGH SPEED ROADS
This article describes the research into problems concerned with incidents on motorways and other high-speed roads. The important areas covered are the causes of incidents, the effectiveness of various surveillance methods for detecting incidents and of various means of controlling the consequences of incidents, and ways of evaluating surveillance and control systems. Some possible implications of the results for the design of surveillance and control systems are suggested.(a) /TRRL/
