HIGH SPEED PROJECTS ON THE SWEDISH STATE RAILWAYS
ENTWICKLUNGEN FUER HOHE FAHRGESCHWINDIGKEITEN BEI DEN SCHWEDISCHEN STAATSBAHNEN
The SJ has directed its efforts towards resolving the problem of high speed operating on existing lines with tilting-body coaches. The article describes the studies conducted on traction, savings in journey time depending on curve negotiation constraints, track layout and maintenance, tilting-body systems, lighter stock, and the results of tests carried out with a prototype. A speed of 240 km/h was reached.
