Toyota has developed what it calls the Turbulence Generating Pot, a prechamber which relies on the usual intake port and compression stroke for its homogeneous charge -- in contrast to the dual input, stratified charge idea. This concept has been teamed with improvements in carburetion and exhaust system; the total package meets Japan's emission standards, which are among the most stringent in the world. And it appears to do so with reasonable cost, economy, and driveability.
