ON-BOARD TRAINING

The first part of this article is devoted to the description of training schemes that are in existence afloat -- the second part to some thoughts on the future which will help stimulate discussion. There is, however, an overall message, and this is one of commitment to training by those at sea, with support from the top. There is little point in the various sections of the Merchant Navy Training Board preparing training programs if they are not accepted and implemented by the Master and Chief Engineer -- who in turn must receive encouragement and feedback from their owners.
