REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN

The principles of limit state design and its application to the design and detailing of reinforced and prestressed concrete members and structures are set out. The design process has been developed in a systematic form so that it can either be used for simplified hand calculations or be adapted into computer programs. The book is intended for use by both undergraduates and practising design engineers. Reference is made to British codes of practice but many of the design methods are of a fundamental nature and will be equally applicable in other parts of the world. Chapter headings are as follows: properties of reinforced concrete; limit state design; analysis of the structure; analysis of the section; shear, bond and torsion; serviceability and stability requirements; design of reinforced concrete beams; design of reinforced concrete slabs; column design; foundations, water-retaining structures and retaining walls; prestressed concrete. /TRRL/
