DYNAMIC POSITIONING -- CUTTING THE ERRORS

As drill ships and semi-submersibiles have moved into deeper water, their mooring has presented a problem of increasing difficulty and dynamic positioning, because of its independence of sea bottom anchorage, presents an increasingly attractive solution. Existing methods of determining the surface movement of the vessel away from its target position have shortcomings. The article proposes a technique designed to avoid these shortcomings.
