THE SERIES ER-22 W ELECTRIC TRACTIVE UNIT WITH RHEOSTATIC AND REGENERATIVE BRAKING FOR LOCAL TRAFFIC ROUND MOSCOW
DER ELEKTROTRIEBZUG DER BAUREIHE ER-22 W MIT WIDERSTANDS--UND NETZBREMSE FUER DEN MOSKAUER NAHVERKEHR
A new electric multiple unit divided into four parts has been developed for the rapid transit system of the Moscow area of the Soviet capital. The basic principle associated with the development of this train from the mechanical and electric viewpoints are pointed out. This multiple unit, rated for overhead networks with 1500 v dc operates by dynamic braking as well as regenerative brakes, which are especially dealt with. The latter are considered in more detail.
