RECENT DEEP WATER PIPELAYING EXPERIENCES -- RESULTS AND INDICATIONS
Recent contributions of Italy's Saipem SpA to the development of deep water pipelaying technology are reviewed. The examples given to illustrate the company's achievements in this field include: the technical knowhow involved in the construction of the BP Cruden Bay-Forties Field submarine pipeline, the crossing of the Messina Straits in 1,200 ft of water, and the very recent trails in the Sicilian Channel in 2,000 ft of water.
