MOORING OF SUPPLY VESSELS TO OFFSHORE INSTALLATIONS

The mooring of vessels of offshore installations has developed over the years according to the environment and type of installation. An attempt is made to inspire thoughts and ideas on the part of designers of vessels, barges, rigs, platforms, and mooring systems, based on the circumstances encountered and envisaged by the vessel operator. The essence of success for any offshore operation is the close liaison and co-operation of the many disciplines involved. Producing the right mooring system for the particular circumstances will reduce vessel damage and mooring-component replacement cost, as well as enhancing the safety of personnel. The different methods of mooring are reviewed. Order from: BSRA as No. 46,802.
