WAVE-MAKING AND FRICTIONAL RESISTANCE FOR PRACTICAL SHIP FORMS

Scheme for theoretically predicting a ship's resistance is explained in six steps. Inviscid fluid flow, viscous fluid flow, and streamlines of the hull surface are considered. The computed wave resistance using the surface-source distribution gives results which appear to be better than the centre-plane distribution, and computed frictional resistance is close to values obtainable by other methods.
