THE CHALLENGE OF DEEPWATER PORT SAFETY

This Paper discusses the deepwater ports in the United States which are being developed to facilitate the receipt of crude oil from VLCCs and the potential risks involved; it identifies those areas where technological developments and related regulations are needed to reduce the potential dangers to human life and the environment to an acceptable and economically attainable level.
