HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE--A PACKAGE OF INFORMATION
The data necessary for a computerized information system to facilitate timely, systematic and economical road maintenance within a given jurisdiction are listed: an uniform and comprehensive coding system whereby each road and each 0.5 kilometer segment thereof has a unique designation to be used by everyone putting information into the system; deflectograph and SCRIM (Sideways-force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine) road condition data from surveys taken at regular intervals; accident records; and a rating system employing a combination of priority and road condition criteria of varying degrees of specificity depending on the financial resources available.
