ACHIEVING RELIABIITY IN AUTOMATIC NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT

A background review of the U.S. Navy Navigation Satellite System "Transit" introduces the paper which then traces the evolution of commercial satellite navigation equipment leading to the development of the Magnavox MX 1102 system. The operational features of the MX 1102 are described including the capability for automatic fault detection and isolation for simple repairs. The concept of product evaluation is discussed with regard to those features of the design which have been developed to improve reliability. Order from: BSRA as No. 47,045.
