RAIL PROFILE GRINDING: HEAVY-HAUL AND FREIGHT APPLICATIONS
Rail profile grinding is a fundamental component of rail maintenance programs on virtually every heavy-haul railroad. Experience has already shown that rail grinding, along with the use of premium rail steels and effective wheel/rail lubrication, can significantly extend the life of rail in track. This article looks at preventive grinding approach that can further add ton miles of life to rail and improve the overall wheel/rail, vehicle/track interaction.
