HEAVY-DUTY MARINE GAS TURBINE PROJECT. TASK 1/6. OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE IMPROVEMENT. FINAL REPORT. VOLUME A. RIG TESTING AND FUEL ADDITIVE DEVELOPMENT
This document describes a part of the work performed within Task 1/6, Operational Performance and Maintenance Improvement, of the Heavy-Duty Marine Gas Turbine Development Program, or MARAD Project. The MARAD Project is an integrated effort to develop the heavy-duty gas turbine as an alternate competitive form of Marine power generation. The costs of this program are equally shared by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Maritime Administration and the General Electric Company, Gas Turbine Products Division. This document represents one of three volumes of the Task 1/6 Final Report. It describes project efforts within the following areas: (1) high pressure testing, using the 'turbine simulator', (2) contaminant inhibition effort to develop new fuel additives; (3) compressor cleaning media evaluations; and (4) intermediate sized rig testing. These results have technical significance, and pave the way towards marine gas turbines having increased performance while burning residual fuel. (Portions of this document are not fully legible)
