USE OF THE CANTABRO TEST TO RAPIDLY PREDICT THE PERFORMANCE OF BITUMINOUS MIXES
There is no such thing as the perfect test for assessing bituminous materials despite claims to the contrary regarding specific test methods. Rather, a wide range of methods is constantly evolving which attempt to keep pace with the rapidly changing highways industry. One of them, the Cantabro test is simple to carry out, uses a laboratory prepared Marshall mould and a Los Angeles machine with the test conditions easily modified to suit requirements. This paper illustrates how the method may be used to assist in predicting the performance of bituminous materials. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 890024.
