PERSPECTIVES ON THE RESEARCH FRAMEWORK: FREIGHT STAKEHOLDERS NATIONAL NETWORK
This paper addresses three topics. The first involves the market forces that impel us to make improvements in our ability to move intermodal freight. The second involves the freight industry's need for partnerships of two types: innovative partnerships in the private sector and effective, targeted partnerships between the private sector and the public sector. This topic is addressed from the perspective of the Freight Stakeholders National Network, which is a coalition of freight carriers and shippers formed to improve freight transportation in our cities. Finally, some observations are offered about elements of the research framework draft, with a view to illustrating the types of partnerships that will enhance intermodalism.
