MARKET DEMAND AND SOCIAL BENEFITS OF A PRT SYSTEM: A MODEL EVALUATION FOR THE CITY OF UMEA, SWEDEN
Transek Consultants was given the task of carrying out a comprehensive travel demand analysis and to contribute to the evaluation and assessment of the three alternative proposed transport strategies for the city of Umea, Sweden: (1) bypasses to divert through traffic outside the city center; (2) an improved bus service with a doubled service frequency; (3) an automatic guided rapid transit line (AGT) system. To these alternatives, a fourth was added: a personal rapid transit system (PRT).
