THE PROSPECTS OF THE APPLICATION OF GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) FOR ROAD AND TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
This paper briefly introduces the procedure of Global Positioning System (GPS) development, its working methods and characteristics. The application and the developing prospect of static and kinematic relative positioning are presented. The transformation between the practically used systems of horizontal coordinate and height in road and traffic engineering and those of GPS is analyzed.
