THE CHEMICAL CARRIER FLEET AND POSSIBLE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

The Author presents tables and graphs which provide a statistical review of the existing world-wide chemical-carrier fleet, mainly in terms of deadweight tonnage, and gives some indications of possible developments up to 1985. The paper is confined to chemical carriers and allied ship-types of over 1,000 dwt, and the information given includes age and size distribution of these ships in general and of those with stainless steel tanks. Brief particulars are also given of ships on order (showing builder, owner, deadweight, and when due for delivery) and the statistical effects of scrapping the older ships during the next few years. The very large surplus of chemical carriers is briefly discussed. Order from: BSRA as No. 47,084.
