REVIEW OF OFFICE AND RETAIL PARKING STANDARDS IN LONDON UNITARY DEVELOPMENT PLANS
The need to control the amount of car parking in and around congested areas is reflected in Government planning guidance and the Unitary Development Plans (UDP) of London's 33 local planning authorities. To be effective the parking standards for new developments need to strike a balance between the need for car access, the capacity of the surrounding road system and the environment through which the generated traffic passes. This report reviews and compares the parking standards that the London Boroughs are adopting in their UDPs for new development for typical office and retail developments.
