ACTIVITY-BASED APPROACHES TO TRAVEL ANALYSIS

Activity-based approaches describe which activities people pursue, at what locations, at what times and how these activities are scheduled, given the locations and attributes of potential destinations, the state of the transportation network, aspects of the institutional context, and their personal and household characteristics. This book explores some of the issues involved in activity-based approaches to travel analysis. It contains a selection of papers which discuss advances in the development of particular modelling approaches, discussions of alternative data collection methods, experiences with the application of activity-based approaches in policy evaluation and perspectives and experiences about the prospects of this area of research. The book is organized in the following six sections: (One) Introduction; (Two) Modelling Developments; (Three) Theories and Empirical Analyses; (Four) Data Needs and Data Representation; (Five) Policy Analysis; and (Six) Future Directions. A Subject Index and a Name Index are provided.
