USER'S MANUAL FOR PROGRAM BOVA
This user's manual contains a detailed description of the application of program BOVA: Bridge Overload Analysis. This computer program performs an incremental-iterative tangent stiffness finite element analysis for the inelastic flexural behavior of simple span beam-slab type highway bridge superstructures. Either reinforced or prestressed concrete bridges may be analyzed. The plane section assumption must adequately describe the strain field. This report describes the input required and output generated. Various input options and their application are explained through two complete example problems including the pertinent input and output. The computer program is intended to be employed as a tool to enable engineers to predict the overload response of the afore mentioned bridges. Through the application of approriate failure and serviceability criteria, which are beyond the scope of the reported investitation, the program can be made operational for practical applications. /Author/
