LABORATORY TESTS OF ROAD PATTERNS TO DETERMINE THE DYNAMIC PERMANENT STRESS

DYNAMISCHE DAUERBELASTUNGSUNTERSUSHUNGEN AN STRABENKONSTRUNKTIONER

Using an installation simulating the dynamic permanent stress, the same tension and deformation processes as are produced by the wheels of moving vehicles in the road were applied--and constantly repeated--to a model section of pavement. The conditions of stress and, as far as possible, the environmental conditions were dept constant throughout the duration of the test. The following joints were concluded. The relationship between the permanence of resilient deformation and the load level and load repetition was established as a function. The model section of pavement was removed from the installation to investigate the internal effects. The investigation of the material from this piece of pavement did not show any essential changes. The only observation was a comminution of the bituminous base under a load of 10.0 Mp. Correlation analysis showed a close linear relationship between the results obtained at the Federal Road Research Institute and Hanover Technical University. The correlations were found by a regression calculation. /Author/
