CALCULATION OF THE SPEED DEPENDENCE OF FLOW AND RELATION TO ROAD QUALITY
BERAEKNING AV TRAFIKHASTIGHETENS FLOEDESBEROENDE VID KVALITETSBESTAEMNING AV VAEGAR
This report describes a flow model, by which the reducing effects of traffic on average speeds can be calculated. The scope of the model is limited to two-lane roads outside built up areas and does not take crossings and environment into consideration. The speed adjustment of road users to the flow is primarily influenced by traffic density. This relation is of a simpler nature than the relation between speed and flow and has been used for calculation by stages, as the relation between speed and flow can be deduced from the relation between speed and density. By use of the flow model only the average speed over distances between 4 and 8 km, characterized by sight distribution, cross section and surfacing, can be calculated. /TRRL/
