IDENTIFICATION MARKING CODE FOR FREIGHT CONTAINERS. FIRST EDITION: 1972-12-01 AND AMENDMENT 1

The standard concerns an identification marking code system for freight containers intended to provide information on the containers and also the documentation and communications associated with their movement. The information is presented in such a manner so as to be be useful for operating personnel carrying out visual inspections and also for automatic data processing. In developing the code system, account was taken of container marking code systems Already in existence. The standard is comlementary to ISO 790 in the setting out of detail information relating to owner code, serial number, country code, and size and type code. /TRRL/
