MOBILE WEIGHING STATION FOR RECORDING OF AXLE LOADS, AXLE SPEEDS AND LATERAL TRACKS
MOBIL VAAGSTATION FOER MAETNING AV FORDONS AXELLASTER, AXELHASTIGHETER SAMT SIDLAEGEN I VERKLIG TID
The weighing station was developed to make it possible to measure axle loads without disturbing the traffic flow. It was desirable to have a cheap transducer of large area which was mobile and could easily be attached to the road. The weighing transducer which is fastened by means of nailing or screwing on the road surface is built up of elastic strips which act as capacitors. The height of the transducer is 13 mm. As an axle drives over the transducer a change in capacitance is received which is proportional to the applied load. An electronic device converts this change to an analogue voltage. The signal conditioning and control unit converts the maximum signal to a digital value and reads the lateral track of the axle. This latter value is received from a lateral track transducer which is embedded in the off ramp of the transducer. The control unit also calculates the time it takes for the axle to drive over the transducer as well as the point of time for the event. The axle weight, lateral track, point of time and passage time are buffered in the control unit and later transferred to a recording unit which may be replaced by a computer. /TRRL/
