STAGE PRESTRESSING AND PRESTRESSING AS A CONSTRUCTION AID

This paper has been written from the point of view of the practising construction engineer and builder rather than of the designer or structural analyst. It brings together in one article a number of concepts involving the use of prestressing techniques, equipment and hardware which can be of particular benefit in the erection, testing and repair of structures. In this paper a number of these concepts are described and illustrated by reference to examples selected where possible from projects constructed in Australia. No attempt is made to examine detailed aspects of their design, although in a number of situations these aspects can be further pursued by the reader by reference to the bibliography. /Author/TRRL/
