INTERACTIONS BETWEEN RESIDUAL ELEMENTS, INCLUSIONS, TOUGHNESS AND STRESS CORROSION RESISTANCE IN A HIGH STRENGTH STEEL

Variations in fracture toughness and stress corrosion resistance of a martensitic Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel were attributable to differences in the levels of carbon, phosphorus and sulphur. The residual elements, As, Cu, Sb and Sn had no significant effect on these properties even after tempering between 400C and 600C for extended periods of time.
