COMPUTERIZED METHOD FOR DESIGNING ROAD ALIGNMENT AT AN EARLY STAGE. SURVEY OF LITERATURE
DATORSTOEDD INPASSNING AV VAEGLINJE I ETT TIDIGT PROJEKTERINGSSKEDE LITTERATURSTUDIE
This investigation has been carried out by the department of highway engineering at Chalmers University of Technology and was sponsored by the National Swedish Road Administration. The purpose is to give an account of existing and planned computer methods for determining horizontal and vertical road alignment. With this as a basis, a working program has been completed. The program describes how a computerized method can be developed for designing road alignment at an early design stage. The report contains a survey of the needs of computer programming at the different design stages of road alignment, a description of mathematical and searching methods (optimization), brief documentations of existing and planned computer programs, and a reference list. /TRRL/
