The transportation of liquid or bulk sulphur presents the ship or barge owner and operator with some unique problems. The safe and efficient handling of this cargo starts with the designer understanding what happens to sulphur in the marine environment and follows through to the operator and overhaul yard. The following fields are specially treated; welding, material selection, fire prevention and fighting, protective tools, protective clothing, handling equipment for liquid and bulk cargoes, USCG regulations and National Fire Protection Association regulations.
