MOSS ROSENBERG'S SPHERICAL TANK LNG-CARRIER
The paper describes the present status regarding design and and construction of the LNG-carriers of Moss Rosenberg design. Since the first concept sketches in 1969, the LNG-carrier of this new design has developed steadily and the spheres for the first ships are now under construction, diameter spheres of 9 percent Ni-steel at Rosenberg Verft Rosenberg Verft and 24 m diameter spheres of aluminum at Moss Verft. These first ships are scheduled to be delivered in summer 1973. Besides, the paper deals in particular with the safety aspects of the Moss Rosenberg LNG-carrier, a matter of considerable interest after the publication of the U.S. Coast Guard's "Tentative Guide for the Review of Liquefied Flammable Gas Vessels".
