WATERFRONT PROPULSION-AN OVERVIEW
The paper reviews some historical uses of waterjets and discusses factors influencing present day component selection and system performance evaluation. Two examples of comparison to other propulsors are referenced and a number of current applications are presented in some detail including small sport and pleasure craft, hydrofoils, a ferry boat, a crewboat and surface effect ships. Typical techniques of testing advanced waterjet system components during the design/development process are also briefly outlined.
