BY-PRODUCTS IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY OF CEMENT, CONCRETE AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
LES DECHETS ET SOUS-PRODUITS INDUSTRIELS EN CHIMIE ET TECHNOLOGIE DES CIMENTS, BETONS, ET AUTRES MATERIAUX DE CONSTRUCTION
The main by-products utilized in the chemical industry and concrete industry are mainly slags and cinders, fly-ash, shale from mines, mud and residual industrial salts, products from the incineration of household refuse, etc. They can be used at various stages of the preparation of cement and hydraulic binders, as additives or as raw materials for producing aggregates and concrete. This article reviews the uses of such by-products and draws attention to the interest shown by the USSR, Japan and the United Kingdom to the problems encountered in the utilization of by-products in some of the above fields. /TRRL/
