SYMPOSIUM SHOWS VITALITY OF INORGANIC ZINC
More than 40 participants from all areas of the protective coatings industry gathered in Melbourne, Australia, on April 22, 1998, to hear a range of presentations on the history, enduring strengths, and limits of inorganic zine coatings. The presentations were part of the Zinc Coatings Symposium. Topics included the early development of inorganic zinc coatings by Victor Nightingall (1881-1947); the environmental, health, and safety aspects of zinc; research into the cure of solvent-borne inorganic zinc coatings; a comparison of inorganic zinc and organic zinc-rich (epoxy) primers; and inorganic zinc as a single-coat system.
