HORIZONTAL SHEAR STRESS INDUCED DISPLACEMENT AND STRESS, AND THE MECHANISM FOR REDUCING DIFFERENTIAL SETTLEMENT USING GEOGRID
Based on the Mindlin formulae of elastic theory, the formulae for calculating horizontal shear stress induced displacement and stress in ground soil are described in this paper. In terms of this, the mechanism for reducing the differential settlement of the soil using geogrids is analyzed as well as the method for determining the optimum embedded depth of the geogrid. The specific values of the optimum embedded depth are also discussed.
