THE DESIGN OF A SYSTEM FOR REAL-TIME ADAPTIVE FORECAST AND ON-LINE BREAKDOWN DETECTION OF URBAN TRAFFIC FLOW
A system for the real-time adaptive forecast and on-line breakdown detection of urban traffic flow is designed using high-order generalized neural network techniques and genetic algorithms. In the system, it is unnecessary to exchange quantities of data; the on-line adjustment of related parameters can be carried out according to the change of the characteristics of traffic networks, thereby realizing the adaptive tracing of traffic states. This paper deals with the following aspects of the system: (1) the structure; (2) the data-gathering subsystem; (3) the breakdown-detecting subsystem; (4) the data-processing subsystem, and (5) the traffic flow forecasting subsystem.
