MARINE CORROSION CONTROL AND PREVENTION
At the Industrial Finishing and Anti-corrosion Exhibition in London, June 1972, many innovative products and procedures were exhibited. Torpedo Marine Paints has developed an anticorrosive deck paint which can be applied by the ships crew. Camrex Ltd performs coatings at sea using a sailing force and an international equipment network. Cathodic protection by F.A. Hughes is a system specifically designed for very large vessels and is being installed on seven super-tankers for testing. Sealine Services is producing a protective coating for spare parts that can also act as a lubricant. The water additive developed by Industrial Anti Corrosion services renders water non-corrosive. Polar Industrial Chemicals has developed a coating for the fireside of boilers that not only helps to oxidize carbons but also breaks down other deposits. Surface coatings of chlorinated rubber paint are being supplied for eight new ships by Hadfields, Ltd.
