STUDY ON TRAFFIC DEMAND PREDICTION METHODS FOR INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL
This paper discusses a study conducted on traffic demand prediction methods for intelligent traffic signal control. In this study, the authors verified the effectiveness of applying traffic demand prediction to signal control presently in effect in Japan for the implementation of proper signal control without delay to a change in traffic demand. In addition, the paper evaluates several kinds of traffic demand prediction methods applicable to the existing signal control methods in Japan and confirmed the practicability of these prediction methods.
