THE EON-TA SERVICE OF AUTOROUTE-INFO

This paper describes the EON-TA service implemented to provide traffic information for travellers using the motorways of SAPRR between Paris and Lyon. This is a new use of this RDS feature in a rather non-conventional situation, to the benefit of the travellers driving on SAPRR network. This implementation is a good example of cooperation between different operators as SAPRR is one of the major motorway operators in France, RADIO-FRANCE a programme provider broadcasting 4 main national programmes all over France and TDF the main radio and TV network operator in France. After describing the context in which this service was launched the paper presents the technical transmission scheme that has been set up and focuses on the main issues faced during this development.
