MEASUREMENT OF DELAYS AT AT-GRADE INTERSECTIONS
MEDICION DE DEMORAS EN INTERSECCIONES A NIVEL
This article studies mean and overall delays at at-grade intersections. Mathematical models are derived for describing junctions without traffic signals, one of the two lanes having priority. As regards signalized junctions, the nebster formula is used to obtain loss of time in seconds for the two flows at the junction as a function of cycle length of the proportion of green phase to the whole length of the cycle, and of the ratio of traffic volume in one direction to the junction capacity in the same direction. Formulae are also given to determine the relation between green phase duration and the total cycle of each of the traffic flows. /TRRL/
