ROAD-READY TECHNOLOGY WINS MANY BACKERS
This article presents excerpts from interviews conducted at Demo '97 held in August 1997 in San Diego, California. Participants commented on the cutting edge, automotive technology showcased by the National Automated Highway System (AHS) Consortium and the fact that many AHS technologies are road-ready today. Others highlighted the importance of AHS spinoffs for improved highway safety, the role of state and local governments in AHS implementation, and the importance of public acceptance of new technologies.
