THE DESIGN OF BRIDGE SLABS AS A SERIES OF CONTINUOUS PLATES WHICH ARE INTEGRAL WITH A FLEXURAL AND TORSIONALLY DEFORMABLE BEAM STRUCTURE

This paper presents a method for calculating the bending moments and shear forces for bridge slabs considered as flat continuous plates which are integral with their longitudinal and transverse beam structure. The paper first considers the case of a longitudinal beam structure without transverse members, simply supported at the ends. Continuity with adjacent spans and the torsional rigidity of the transverse beams are then introduced. /TRRL/
