THE ALPINE APPROACH TO ADVANCED TRAFFIC & TRAVEL INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The paper describes context and framework of the strategy of the Alpine Regions (Austria, Bavaria (Germany), Tri-Veneto (Italy), Switzerland) towards full scale implementation of Advanced Traffic & Traveller Information Systems. The identification of consumers needs on quality information induced authorities and industries to establish the organisational background of public-private partnership. Currently ongoing initiatives cover already wide area implementation of all subsystems necessary for RDS/TMC services (in the framework of the European Commission Directorate General VII - Trans European Networks - Transport initiative CORVETTE). An integrated R&D demonstrator on individualised interregional intermodal information services is under preparation within the European Commission Fourth Framework Programme Directorate General XIII project INFOTEN. For the covering abstract, see IRRD 490001.
