ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF CHAUFFEUR
This paper describes the successful implementation of CHAUFFEUR, which sensitively depends on the reachable private and public benefits. Therefore, the profitability of the system has to be proved on a micro-level, and on a macro-level. The micro-level covers the private cost savings by CHAUFFEUR. The usage of CHAUFFEUR enables the optimizing of routes and load factor. Furthermore, the fuel consumption of the second truck can be reduced by the possibility of lee-driving. Besides these direct cost savings, reductions of road accidents, of road traffic, and of emissions (e.g. pollution, noise) can be reached. These general economic effects of CHAUFFEUR must be quantified on the macro-level. The quantification of these general effects is mainly based on a transport simulation model. The results are the input for a cost-benefit-analysis that shows that CHAUFFEUR could lead to significant benefits for society. For the covering abstract, see IRRD 490001.
