REEFERS WINNING BATTLE FOR FRUIT TRADE

Lauritzen-Peninsular Reefers Ltd was formed in 1972 when P&O's general cargo division and J Lauritzen A/S of Copenhagen combined their general reefer trading operations to ensure greater penetration and coverage of the world market. Reefers are in tough competition with containership for the favour of the world's fresh fruit traders and here P&O's representative on the Lauritzen board assesses their probable future.
