IMPROVEMENT ON THE FORGING METHOD OF SEMI-BUILT-UP CRANKSHAFT
A die forging method has been patented by the Japan Steel Works, Ltd. This die forging method has been applied to forging large diesel engine crankshafts to close up the cavities in the center of the steel block by concentrating the forging effect to the center without using a steel die. The machining cost of a semi-built up crank shaft using this forging process has been reduced.
