CLARIFYING GROUTING REQUIREMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH SOIL AND ROCK TUNNEL LINERS

The requirement to perform grouting in conjunction with tunnel lining placement can be a costly and time consuming operation in the tunnel excavation/lining process. A better understanding of the technical reasoning for requiring such grouting and a more standardized nomenclature by the underground engineering and construction industry could help reduce misunderstandings, eliminate unnecessary costs, improve construction schedules and avoid potential claims.
