The article summarises the study commissioned by the German Federal Minister of Transport. This study in two volumes contains 298 pages, 150 figures and tables. The study establishes comparative charts for energy consumption in all surface transport modes, including pipelines, to provide a basis for discussion of political measures aimed at energy saving in transport.
