FATIGUE DESIGN OF WELDED BRIDGE DETAILS FOR SERVICE STRESSES
An average stress range histogram for truck loads on short-span highway bridges is derived from 106 strain range records reported in the literature. The histogram is used in conjunction with the concept of an equivalent stress range and the allowable constant amplitude stress range values specified by AASHTO to design bridge details for service stresses. Practical application of the method is illustrated with two design examples. /Author/
